Some tips to stay cool during a Heat Wave ~ Stay somewhere inside cool during the peak hours of the day : between 11 am & 2 or 3 pm in the afternoon - If you don't have air conditioning (or yours is on the fritz), there are places that the County will offer, such as the Library & the like, that are provided as "Cooling Stations" : (usually this pertinent piece of information is broadcast via the radio or your local News Station). Fans help immensely too! If you are around moving air, your body will cool itself more quickly - True Fact!
Another way to beat the heat is to make sure you stay hydrated! Always make sure that you have nice cold water (the best thing ever!) with you, by the time you feel as if you are thirsty, you are already well on your way to being dehydrated! Plus the cold water will cool your body from the inside too! Between the heat, the normal sweating that occurs & not being able to drink water, Summer can really produce some serious heat-related illnesses. Heatstroke is one of the most frequently treated occurrences in the ER in the Summer.
Going to the Beach can help to alleviate this! Even if it's just to go sit by the water with your toes in the sand with the waves gently tickling your feet! It's free and all you have to do is walk out to the Ocean. Feels cooler already! Think we should all go to the beach.....
